Backseat’s Phil Rush and Doug Sakmann spent most of August 2016 in Mississippi working on a new feature film from the producers of ‘The Collector’ and ‘The Collection’ called ‘Malicious’. Rush acted as Assistant Director and Associate Producer and Sakmann acted as Practical FX Coordinator, working with Lead FX Makeup Artist Beki Ingram (Robert Kurtzman’s ‘Creature Corps’ and Sci Fi’s ‘Face Off’) and VFX Coordinator Zac Prichard to put together many elaborate FX as well as create a full rain tower from scratch for scenes where it is raining outdoors!

Actors Josh Stewart, Delroy Lindo, Bojana Novakovic, Melissa Bolona and Yvette Yates have joined writer-director Michael Winnick’s U.S.-set horror film Malicious, which will launch at the American Film Market next week.
The film follows a young college professor and his pregnant wife who find and open an antique box in their new home, unwittingly releasing a malevolent entity with murderous intentions.
Patrick Rizzotti and Brett Forbes of Fortress Features produce. Exec producers are Shaun Redick and Ray Mansfield of Movie Package Company. Lost Hills Film Fund, a venture launched this year by Forbes, Rizzotti, Redick and Mansfield to finance and produce director-driven, elevated genre films, is financing. Lost Hills is set to produce and finance 10 movies over the next three years that include comedies, thrillers, sci-fi and horror.
