NYC ZOMBIE CRAWL REPORT - By Giovanni Deldio

Well, I guess I should start by mentioning that this is following in the footsteps of the Zombie Crawl done in Philly not so long ago.

But this is one was to be held in NYC...

Basically, this is an event hosted by the sexy Burning Angel girls, the Lovely Brenda, and Doug Sakmann, director of PUNK ROCK HOLOCAUST, RE-PENETRATOR, and THE XXXORCIST). This version would have the legion of living dead walk through New York City in search of booze! Cause, we all know zombies love human flesh, but they love alcohol too, it seems!

I found out first about it on Myspace and decided to go forth and see what it would all be like. I met up with my friend Josh, and we headed into Beauty Bar on East 14th St. We were all to meet our zombie brethren here and commence our invasion of NYC from here.

When we got there was only one zombie, a dude by the name of Robert. He had on a very bloody make-up job and was just chilling by the bar. At, the far end there were some really pretty girls in a bachelorette party. We were pretty sure they were not zombies!

Eventually, Doug, the gorgeous Burning Angel girls, and their friends would come in. The girls consisted of January, Apathy, Morgan Mae, as well as BA photo girl the Lovely Brenda (very aptly named, BTW). It was her birthday and she may have had the coolest and my fav costume, sort of a prom queen look with a noose and a dead puppy (don’t worry guys it was fake). Very cool! And, you guys should check out Brenda’s work. She does some really nice photography.

Another, very cool costume came from Rebecca, who would later tell me that she is Joanna Angel’s NY hairstylist, who wore her actual wedding dress. It was her wedding anniversary. And it was covered in gore! Very fucking cool!

Anyways, yours truly, was also made up as a zombie. I was turned into a zombie by the beautiful January, who did an excellent job, by the way. Lots of people asked who did my make-up, as they really liked it. Props to January! She also helped out Doug and Josh Potter apply the cool gore drenched make-up FX.

Doug’s next horror/ porno is EVIL HEAD, a parody of, yes, EVIL DEAD. They are still in pre-production, but being a fan of both RE-PENETRATOR (itself, a wicked cool zombie porn film) and THE XXXORICST, I totally look forward to it.

Anyways, I even managed to convince my friend Josh, not a horror fan by the way, to become a zombie. We both felt that he looked like sort of a zombie Abe Lincoln. But he had head wound should he not be dead? Hmm, something to ponder…

OK, now the legions of flesh hungry zombies were steadily growing as more came in, some that already had work done on them, others that needed to be turned.

By about 9:45PM we left Beauty Bar and headed off to Luke and Leroy’s on 7th Ave., and basically on the other side of the island. We trudged through the city. We ran up to buses, cabs, restaurants, and people. Some people laughed and seemed to have fun with us. But others looked confused, freaked out (one dude looked so fucked up that me and January joked about him being on some shit), grossed out, and, a few, angry. Well, I guess some people just have no sense of humor. But those that got it looked to enjoy the assault of zombies from hell! Plus, we left trails of blood everywhere! Yay!

We saw some sailors and they got pics with the girls. They seemed quite happy to meet zombies this sexy and hot. But hey if you were gonna get your brains eaten, you could have not asked for a hotter legion of the dead, right?

I must say that all the going “Urgh!” was totally killing my throat, and making me and my fellow rotting corpses very thirst. Thank fucking God, we got to Luke and Leroy’s and it was open vodka bar! I fucking love vodka, so this pleased this zombie quite a bit!

At about 12:30AM there was a zombie version of STRIP FOR PAIN: AMERICA’S MOST DANGEROUS GAME SHOW featuring Doug and the Burning Angel girls. For the uninitiated, this game show involves fans getting on stage and taking as much pain as possible He takes the most pain wins a lap dance from the BA girls. Well, a lucky girl won the contest. This girl clearly could take the pain, and enjoyed, a lot!

Well, most of the rest of the night involved dancing, drinking, and hanging with friend. Zombies have always been my favorite sub-genre of the horror film, so it was awesome to be one! You see, I always wanted to be a zombie (hey, we all need goals in life!). I had a blast, and so did my friends (my friend Ben would join up later, but alas to late to be a zombie). Doug is the fucking man and the Burning Angel girls are fucking awesome like always, as were all the very cool new people I met.

So, if you ever get a chance to do Zombie Crawl with Burning Angel fucking do it! But just partying with Burning Angel is fucking awesome (as I have also been to all the Adult Drawings with them, so far). Oh, and more thing being a zombie is probably one of the most fun experiences one could ever have.
