Backseat/941 Theater Newsletter

As 2011 draws to a close, we want to thank all our friends, family and co-workers (who generally are all one and the same) for helping to make the year such a successful one for us. We worked on a national TV show for 5 months (Paranormal Challenge), returned to the Vans Warped Tour for a 6th year with Punk Rock Holocaust 3, made a number of awesome shorts, music videos and projects that could not have been done without your support. 2012 is going to bring a lot more big projects and we're happy to bring you all along for the ride.

From all of us at Backseat Conceptions, have a safe and happy holiday season and an awesome new year.

A bit of news below, we've been so busy have had hardly time to update the website but we just finished another short and also have the last NYC Zombie Crawl event of 2011 this weekend, if you're in NY come celebrate the holidays with us!

1. 'Conclusion' Short Film Complete!
2. Zombie Beauty Pageant in NYC tomorrow Dec 18th!

1. 'Conclusion' Short Film Complete!

Backseat just wrapped production on a short psychological horror/sci-fi movie called ‘Conclusion’ directed by Vanessa Romanelli. Produced by Doug Sakmann and Vanessa Romanelli with Zafer Ulkucu as the director of photography, the short was executive produced by Erica Frost and shot in the Bronx and Brooklyn NY. The movie stars Steve Dash (Jason in Friday the 13th Pt 2) and Kevin Van Hentenryck (Basket Case) as well as Nam Holtz and Goldie Zweibel.

The film follows four unsuspecting strangers who check into a medical facility for medical treatment. Little do they know; there is only one way to check out! Turns out Kirkgroom’s Jisatsu Medical Institution is a self-termination (suicide) assistance hospital.  We explore the back stories of each character and what lead them to their decision to do so,  then watch them either accept their death (by means of their own hands) or fight to survive. Once they are locked in their termination chamber, they only have “ten minutes to live”!

The film will be featured in the upcoming horror compilation “The Collective: Volume 3” to be released early next year from Jabb Pictures. The project features 10 female directors with 10 different short films. The only thing they have in common is the tagline ‘10 Minutes To Live!”

Additional crew included Sam Crow on Sound Recording, Amber Kirkwood on Script Supervisor, Gaffed by Kevin Meegan, Assistant Camera by Steven DiCasa, Location Managed by Leandra VTR/Monitoring by Nate Spence, SPFX makeup by Ron Hulsen & practical effects by Doug Sakmann.

See some shots from the set below and you can see additional stills from set photographer Barry Brown right here!
